YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Two local LGBTQ+ projects will benefit from a $191,000 grant from the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley. The Lake to River LGBTQ+ Community Needs Assessment, led by Kent State University's Andrew Snyder and Alex DiDonato, will focus on Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana, and Ashtabula counties. This assessment aims to enhance decision-making and community investments by understanding the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals. The second project involves creating a community organizer position hosted by Equality Ohio for Trumbull and Mahoning counties. Additionally, the Community Foundation awarded grants to PFLAG Youngstown and Full Spectrum Community Outreach and will sponsor local Pride celebrations: Pride in the Valley on June 15, Pride Youngstown on June 22, and Columbiana County Pride on July 20.
